Void
Objects gradually become less important
pride slouches into a simple chair
sitting there detached
surrounded by inanimate objects
that once linked bits of the past
You become lighter in body
the mind drifts and rises
another departure begins
each route similar yet never the same
Perspectives shift slowly
all move towards a vanishing point
but not like one in a finely rendered drawing
or a tightly composed landscape photograph
You are sliding away
yet cling to fading landmarks
and drag your feet on one-way streets
resisting change that pushes all forward
towards an incomprehensible void
