Art Clock Statement
"Art Clocks" are functional in that they use a motor to track the passage of time.
My reasons for making this functional art are 99.5% poetic and .5% practical. These pieces can be whimsical, philosophical, and sentimental. They do keep accurate time and use one "AA" battery.
My Art Clocks are platforms (my little stages) in which to express a variety of thoughts.
Target and Wal-Mart will always sell clocks for less than my Art Clocks.
Go to those stores if you just want a clock.
An Art Clock begins the same way I write a poem.
I notice something, make spontaneous associations, and visualize a completed piece. The subjects for an Art Clock are as diverse as my poetry. As ideas evolve I use new materials and learn more skills.
I do not start any piece with an "art market" in mind, I start with my home in mind.
I will not make anything that I don't enjoy making. Of course I must market my art and hope you will buy my Art Clocks. This is unique, reasonably priced art that is also a great gift to give.
